SSU and Prosecutor General declare russian general suspect for commanding missile strike on Okhmatdyt Children’s Hospital

The SSU Military Counterintelligence and Security Service investigators have documented new war crimes committed by russian major general Sergei Kuvaldin, commander of the russian air force’s long-range aviation.

According to the investigation, on 8 July 2024 the official gave a combat order to launch a missile strike on the Okhmatdyt National Children’s Specialised Hospital in Kyiv.

The investigation established that the ruscists attacked the medical facility with a Kh-101 air-to-surface strategic cruise missile launched from a russian Tu-95MS bomber.

As a result of the attack, two civilians were killed, and dozens more were injured to varying degrees. The building and premises of the hospital, which contained high-tech equipment, suffered significant damage.

At the time of the enemy attack, Kuvaldin held the position of first deputy commander and chief of staff of the long-range aviation of russia’s air force.

Shortly after the missile strike on Okhmatdyt, he received a promotion and was appointed commander of the long-range aviation of the aggressor state’s armed forces.

Based on the evidence, SSU investigators notified Kuvaldin in absentia of suspicion under Article 438.2 of the CCU (war crimes that caused the death of people).

The culprit is in russia; efforts to bring him to justice are underway.

Earlier, the SSU notified Kuvaldin in absentia of suspicion of commanding a missile attack on the infrastructure of a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Lviv on the night of September 4, 2024.

The investigation is carried out under the procedural supervision of the Office of the Prosecutor General.
