SSU and National Police detain student recruited by russia who provided intelligence to enemy on Defence Forces positions in Kharkiv region

The Security Service and the National Police have detained another enemy agent in the Kharkiv region. He turned out to be a 17-year-old student at a local vocational college who had been recruited by russia. He adjusted russian strikes on the Izium area.

The investigation revealed that his primary targets were backup command posts and fortified areas of the Defence Forces, which the russians were preparing to attack with guided aerial bombs.

The russian intelligence recruited the young man after he tried to order a physical attack on his stepfather via Telegram after a family dispute.

In one of the chats, he received a response from russia promising to kill his relative in exchange for spying for the aggressor state.

To carry out their orders, the agent travelled around the area under the guise of work trips for a municipal utility company, where he worked part-time repairing roads and pavements.

During his reconnaissance trips, the asset marked the locations with the highest concentration of Ukrainian military personnel and equipment on Google Maps.

He also recorded the geolocations of sites that he thought defenders in the Kharkiv region could use as logistics bases.

The SSU documented the agent’s crimes and detained him at a student dormitory.

A smartphone containing photos and coordinates of potential ‘targets’ to be passed on to the enemy was seized from him during searches.

Security Service investigators have notified the detainee of his status as a suspect under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).

The suspect is being held in custody without bail. Given his age, he faces up to 15 years in prison.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Kharkiv Office, in cooperation with the National Police, under procedural supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office.
