SSU and National Police detain another six arsonists who carried out russia’s orders in several regions of Ukraine

The Security Service and National Police have detained another six agents of russia’s federal security service who committed arson attacks in several Ukrainian regions. The perpetrators targeted Defense Forces vehicles, energy facilities on Ukrainian railways, and post offices.

All of them were recruited by the russian special service on Telegram channels offering ‘easy money.’

In Kyiv region, SSU cyber units detained a 33-year-old displaced person from Luhansk region who set fire to a multivan and a crossover belonging to Ukrainian servicemen.

In Ternopil region, a 19-year-old unemployed man from Chortkiv district was apprehended or destroying a relay cabinet on a railway section and preparing a terrorist attack against the Defense Forces.

The Security Service detained the perpetrator at the stage when he purchased components for manufacturing an improvised explosive device in his home.

In Sumy region, a 19-year-old resident of Shostka was detained. He burned two off-road vehicles of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and tried to destroy another service car.

In Zakarpattia, a 22-year-old resident of Tyachiv district was detained for setting fire to a post office and causing a fire in the relay cabinet of a local branch of Ukrzaliznytsia.

In Odesa, a 13-year-old schoolgirl and her mother were apprehended for burning a relay cabinet on Ukrzaliznytsia and an evacuation vehicle of the Defense Forces. The pair acted on FSB’s orders.

Components for manufacturing flammable mixtures, as well as clothing and telephones containing evidence of the crimes, were seized from the enemy agents during searches.

The detained individuals have been notified of suspicion, according to the offences they committed, under several Articles of the CCU:

  • 113.2 (sabotage, committed under martial law);
  • 14.1, 258.2 (preparation for a terrorist act);
  • 114-1.1 (obstruction of the lawful activities of the AFU, during a special period);
  • 194.2 (intentional damage to property by arson).

The suspects are in custody without bail. They face life imprisonment with confiscation of property. The decision to bring the minor perpetrator to justice is pending.

The operational and investigative actions were carried out by the SSU regional offices together with the National Police under the procedural supervision of regional Prosecutor’s Offices.
