SSU and National Police detain arsonists who carried out russia’s orders in three Ukrainian regions
The Security Service of Ukraine and the National Police have detained four enemy agents preparing and carrying out arson attacks in several regions of Ukraine.
As the investigation established, the orders of the russian intelligence were carried out by local residents who agreed to work for the enemy for money. However, they now received suspicion notices and the prospect of life imprisonment.
In Kirovohrad region, a 17-year-old FSB agent was detained for recruiting accomplices to carry out arson attacks on military vehicles and emergency power generators at energy facilities in the region.
His next task was to prepare for a terrorist attack in the region. To do this, he had to retrieve TNT from a cache to make an improvised explosive device.
The SSU detained the agent red-handed near the cache from which he was to retrieve the explosives.
Another suspect was exposed in Cherkasy region for burning down facilities of the regional branch of Ukrainian Railways. His targets included relay and battery cabinets powering the railway lines.
In this way, the perpetrator attempted to damage the lighting of crossings, posts and traffic control devices on main tracks.
In Zaporizhzhia, two local residents aged 20 and 21 have been declared suspects after setting fire to a service pickup truck of the commander of one of the units fighting on the southern front.
They also attempted to destroy several more military SUVs that were being repaired at a local service station after deployment to Zaporizhzhia direction.
The detained individuals have been notified of suspicion under the Articles of the CCU:
- 111.2 (treason committed under martial law);
- 28.2, 113.2 (sabotage, committed by a group, upon prior conspiracy, under martial law);
- 28.2, 114-1.1 (obstruction of the AFU’s lawful activities, during a special period, committed by a group, upon prior conspiracy).
The suspects are in custody. The investigations are underway.
The operations were carried out by the SSU Offices in Kirovohrad, Cherkasy, and Zaporizhzhia regions in cooperation with the National Police under the procedural supervision of regional Prosecutors’ Offices.
