SSU and National Police detain arsonists who acted on russia’s orders in Kharkiv and Bukovyna
The Security Service and National Police have detained another three enemy agents who committed arsons in the eastern and western regions of Ukraine. The perpetrators were local residents recruited by the enemy while looking for ‘easy money’ on Telegram.
However, instead of the payments promised by ruscists, each of the arsonists has received an notice of suspicion and faces the prospect of imprisonment.
In Kharkiv, a 21-year-old enemy agent was detained for burning a Ukrainian Armed Forces SUV that was undergoing maintenance after completing combat missions on the front line.
To commit the crime, he poured flammable mixture on the hood of the car and set it on fire.
The SSU Military Counterintelligence detained the perpetrator as he was preparing to commit new crimes in a frontline town.
In Chernivtsi region, a 24-year-old repeat offender who had previously served time for vehicle theft has been exposed.
After his release in the summer of 2024, he received an order from russia to set fire to Ukrzaliznytsia energy facilities in Ukraine’s western region.
The arsonist enlisted the help of his 34-year-old acquaintance to commit the crime. Both individuals were detained after they set fire to a relay cabinet on the railway.
SSU investigators have notified the detainees of suspicion, in accordance with the crimes committed, under two Articles of the CCU:
- 114-1.1 (obstruction of the lawful activities of the AFU, during a special period);
- 113.2 (sabotage, committed by a group, upon prior conspiracy, under martial law).
The detainees are in custody. They face from 8 years in prison to life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The operations were carried out by the SSU Offices in Kharkiv and Chernivtsi regions jointly with the SSU Military Counterintelligence and the National Police under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Offices.
