SSU and National Police detain two groups of arsonists who destroyed railway power equipment and AFU vehicles on russia’s orders
The Security Service and the National Police have apprehended another five enemy accomplices who committed arson attacks in Kyiv and Kharkiv on the orders from russia. The youngest of the suspects is 15 years old.
The potential targets were energy facilities on Ukrainian railways, which ensure uninterrupted movement of military echelons towards the front.
The perpetrators were also instructed by their handlers to destroy the vehicles of mobile air defense groups protecting the airspace of both cities.
To commit the arsons, the occupiers remotely recruited local residents who were looking for ‘easy money’ on Telegram.
But instead of quick payments from russia, the arsonists received suspicion notices from Ukrainian law enforcement and a prospect of life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
Two IDPs from Chasiv Yar, aged 19 and 21, were detained in Kyiv, where they came after the start of the full-scale war.
Later, they received an order from russia to destroy pick-up trucks of mobile air defense groups.
The law enforcement detained the enemy accomplices in hot pursuit after they set fire to two cars of Ukrainian defenders.
Another three arsonists were apprehended in Kharkiv. They are two students of a railway college and their 15-year-old schoolgirl friend. They set fire to 24 relay cabinets of signaling installations on railway lines in the frontline region.
Their next task was to carry out a series of sabotage attacks in Vinnytsia. However, the law enforcement thwarted these intentions and detained all three suspects.
The detained individuals have been served notices of suspicion under two Articles of the CCU:
- 113.2 (sabotage, committed upon prior conspiracy, by a group, under martial law);
- 114-1.1 (obstruction of lawful activities of the AFU, committed by a group, upon by prior conspiracy).
The investigations are ongoing.
The operations were conducted by the SSU Offices in Kyiv and Kyiv region and in Kharkiv region jointly with the National Police under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor’s Offices.
