SSU and National Police detain enemy agent preparing attacks on AFU airfields in western Ukraine

In Khmelnytskyi region, the SSU Counterintelligence and the National Police have detained an agent of russian military intelligence (‘the GRU’). The perpetrator was collecting data to prepare russian missile and drone strikes on the Defense Forces in western Ukraine.

The enemy intended to target airfields and transit depots for weapons, ammunition and armour for Ukrainian troops.

To adjust the strikes, the occupiers remotely recruited a 26-year-old local drug addict who was looking for easy money on Telegram.

The woman’s tasks also included reconnaissance near a military airfield in one of the western regions of Ukraine.

For money from the GRU, she rented an apartment near a logistics center of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. From its window, the asset recorded the time of arrival of military equipment and its maintenance schedule.

The agent used the observation post to identify the routes of mobile air defense groups protecting the airspace of the logistics base.

The aggressor planned to use this information to strike the military unit evading air defenses and at the time of the greatest concentration of Ukrainian personnel and equipment.

The SSU foiled russia’s intentions and apprehended the traitor at her temporary home. Her mobile phone, which she used to contact russian military intelligence, was seized during searches.

SSU investigators served her a notice of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).

The suspect is in custody and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Khmelnytskyi region jointly with the National Police under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
