Terrorists behind May 7 Dnipro car explosion apprehended by SSU and Police

The Security Service, in cooperation with the National Police, has detained two perpetrators of a russian-ordered terrorist attack carried out in Dnipro on May 7 of this year.

On that day, at around 7:30 a.m. in the Soborny district of Dnipro, a parked car belonging to a Ukrainian Armed Forces servicemember exploded.

Within a few hours of the explosion, the SSU identified the perpetrators and detained them. One of them was intercepted while attempting to flee abroad, where he hoped to evade justice.

As the investigation revealed, the suspects, acting on russia’s orders, planted an improvised explosive device under the Ukrainian serviceman’s car and set up a phone camera nearby to record the attack.

The bomb was subsequently remotely detonated via a call to the mobile phone attached to the IED.

Both terrorists are residents of the Samar District in Dnipropetrovsk region who were looking for ‘easy money’ on Telegram channels.

They agreed to blow up the Ukrainian soldier’s car for money from russia.

During the searches of the detainees, investigators seized mobile phones, SIM cards, and clothing that they used during the preparation and commission of the terrorist attack.

Security Service investigators have notified them of their status as suspects under Article 258.2 of the CCU (terrorist act).

The suspects are in custody and face up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.

The operational and investigative actions were carried out by the SSU Office in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast jointly with the National Police under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
