SSU and SBI apprehend former railway employee who guarded russian military trains during occupation of Kherson
The Security Service of Ukraine and the State Bureau of Investigation have detained another individual who collaborated with russia following the capture of Kherson. He is a former employee of the paramilitary security unit of the regional branch of Ukrzaliznytsia.
It has been established that the suspect was responsible for guarding russian military trains transporting weapons, ammunition and supplies for troops on the front lines.
Following the liberation of Kherson, the russian occupying forces abandoned their accomplice in the city and fled to the left bank of the region.
In an attempt to evade justice, the suspect went into hiding in rented apartments in southern Ukraine, regularly changing his address.
He only left his home when absolutely necessary and had little contact with anyone.
However, the SSU tracked him down and detained him in late May 2026.
Prior to this, in 2025, he had been declared suspect in absentia under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, under martial law).
The suspect is currently in custody and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The operational and investigative activities were carried out by the SSU Offices in the Kherson and Odesa regions in cooperation with the SBI under the procedural supervision of the Kherson Region Prosecutor’s Office.
