The Security Service of Ukraine, along with the Unmanned Systems Forces, Special Operations Forces and the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, as well as other units of the Defence Forces, struck the Kapotnya oil refinery in Moscow, located just 15 km from the kremlin.

Long-range drones of the SSU’s Alfa Special Operations Centre flew over 500 kilometres, penetrated russia’s multi-layered air defence system, and successfully hit the refinery. A major fire has been reported.

The Moscow oil refinery is a key enterprise in russia’s oil refining industry. With the capacity to process over 11.6 million tonnes of crude oil per year, it meets up to 35 per cent of the demand for high-quality fuel in Moscow and the surrounding region. The plant produces petrol, aviation kerosene, diesel fuel and fuel oil, and is the main supplier of aviation fuel to Moscow’s airports.

The Security Service of Ukraine will continue to degrade russia’s fuel and energy capabilities, as well as its military and economic capabilities. Attacking russian oil refineries is an appropriate response to the terror inflicted by russia on Ukrainian cities and civilian infrastructure.
