SSU notifies suspicion in absentia to russian generals who commanded shelling of right bank of Kherson region
The SSU has collected evidence against five more ruscists involved in massive shelling of the de-occupied part of Kherson region.
The case files include the following individuals:
- Colonel-General Oleh Makarevych, former commander of the Dniepr military group of the russian Armed Forces (held the position until the fall of 2023);
- Major General Volodymyr Omelianovych, Chief of Staff, First Deputy Commander of the Dniepr group of the russian Armed Forces,;
- Lieutenant General Arkadii Marzoiev, Commander of the 22nd Army Corps of the Black Sea Fleet of the russian federation;
- Major General Viktor Bedryk, Chief of Staff, First Deputy Commander of the 22nd Army Corps of the Black Sea Fleet of the russian federation;
- Colonel Mykola Horaichuk, Chief of Missile and Artillery Troops of the 22nd Army Corps of the Black Sea Fleet of the russian federation.
According to the investigation, while in office in January-October 2023, they commanded artillery strikes on civilian buildings on the right bank of Kherson region.
It has been found that the ruscists targeted residential areas, schools, hospitals, and critical infrastructure.
The occupiers used multiple launch rocket systems, self-propelled artillery units and towed large-caliber howitzers to conduct the attacks.
At least 113 local residents, including three children, were killed in the hostile attacks. More than 280 people, including minors, sustained various injuries.
The investigation has established that the ruscists carried out the attacks from the temporarily occupied territories of the left bank of Kherson region.
Based on the collected evidence, SSU investigators notified five offenders of suspicion in absentia under Articles 28.2, 438.2 of the CCU (war crimes that caused the death of people committed by prior conspiracy by a group of persons).
Every war criminal in russia will be found and punished.
The investigation was carried out by the SSU Office in Kherson region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
