SSU notifies suspicion to ruscist who shot two Ukrainian soldiers and was later taken prisoner by Ukrainian forces

The investigators and Military Counterintelligence of the Security Service have uncovered war crimes committed by a ruscist who is currently in the custody of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

On 9 January this year, he and his accomplices shot two captured Ukrainian soldiers during fighting on Kursk direction.

However, two days after the murder, the occupiers’ sabotage and reconnaissance group was found and attacked by Ukrainian Special Operations Forces.

As a result of the battle, part of the enemy unit was destroyed and the russian serviceman was taken prisoner.

The investigation established that the perpetrator is a rifleman from the 40th separate marine brigade of the russian armed forces.

During the investigation, he tried to hide the fact of his crime, but the SSU gathered substantial evidence of his guilt.

It has been established that both Ukrainian defenders were captured by russian forces after coming under fire from the enemy sabotage and reconnaissance group that had secretly approached the advance positions of the Defense Forces.

After temporarily seizing the dugout, the occupiers took the prisoners out into the open and shot them in the back with automatic weapons.

As a result of the gunfire, both Ukrainians died on the spot.

SSU investigators notified the russian citizen of suspicion under Articles 28.1, 438.2 of the CCU (war crimes under Articles 3 and 130 of the Convention on the Treatment of Prisoners of War, combined with intentional murder, committed by a group of persons).

The suspect faces life imprisonment.

The investigation is carried out under the procedural guidance of the Office of the Prosecutor General.
