SSU simultaneously detains nine FSB agents preparing terrorist attacks in central and eastern regions of Ukraine
The SSU Counterintelligence has dismantled an extensive agent network of russia’s federal security service operating in four regions of Ukraine. As a result of the operation, the Service detained nine agents who were preparing terrorist attacks and sabotage on russia’s orders. Among them are five minors aged 14-15.
As established by the investigation, the agents were preparing a series of explosions in residential areas and near the bases of the Defense Forces.
They also planned to blow up key bridges and main lines of Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian Railways), important for the logistics of our troops.
The members of the network acted separately, but with a clear division of duties under the control of two FSB handlers.
On instructions from the enemy special service, one group manufactured improvised explosive devices and hid them in caches.
Other assets retrieved the bombs, disguised them in garbage bags or clods of earth, and left them at the sites of the planned explosions. They also set up hidden video cameras with remote access for the FSB.
Using the observation points, the occupiers planned to remotely activate the IEDs and record the consequences of the attacks.
The SSU apprehended all members of the FSB agent network when they were preparing the first series of terrorist attacks. More than 30 kg of explosives were seized from them, which the occupiers intended to use in different regions of Ukraine.
The traitors are local residents, each of whom was recruited by the FSB through Telegram channels offering ‘easy money’.
Now, four of the detainees have been notified of suspicion under two Articles of the CCU:
- 111.2 (high treason, committed under martial law);
- 263.1 (illegal handling of explosives).
In addition, two employees of the FSB who coordinated the network’s activities were notified of suspicion in absentia.
The decision to bring the juvenile perpetrators to justice is pending.
The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Kirovohrad region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
