SSU and National Police apprehend perpetrator of terrorist attack in Bucha on 23 March morning in hot pursuit

Within a few hours after the explosions, the SSU Counterintelligence and the National Police have detained an enemy agent who carried out a double terrorist attack in Bucha on March 23 of this year.

According to the investigation, at 5:35 a.m., the 112 emergency hotline received a report of an explosion on one of the streets in the town. After emergency services arrived at the scene, another blast occurred.

The Security Service and National Police officers apprehended the perpetrator of the attack in hot pursuit. He turned out to be a 21-year-old local resident. According to preliminary information, he was recruited by the russian intelligence services on the Internet.

He received instructions from the ruscists on how to manufacture two improvised explosive devices. To enable remote detonation, the agent equipped each bomb with a mobile phone.

The individual then planted the bombs at the site of the plotted attack: one was hidden under a bench near the entrance to a residential building, and the other near a trash container.

The criminal proceedings have been opened under Article 258.2 of the CCU – terrorist act. Urgent investigative and operational actions are underway to establish all the circumstances of the crime and bring those responsible to justice.

The investigation is carried out under the procedural supervision of Kyiv Region Prosecutor’s Office.

The Security Service of Ukraine urges citizens to remain vigilant. If you receive dubious offers, notice suspicious objects or individuals, or obtain information about the activities of russian intelligence agencies, or about websites and social media pages they use for recruitment, please report this to the SSU:
