Over weekend, SSU and National Police prevent four terrorist attacks and acts of sabotage about to be carried out in Ukraine on russia’s orders

The Security Service of Ukraine, the National Police and the Prosecutor’s Office record a significant increase in sabotage and terrorist activities of russian intelligence services on the territory of Ukraine. In just a few days, explosions and arson attacks were to take place in four Ukrainian regions on ruscists’ orders. Due to proactive work of the law enforcement, all culprits have been detained and the attacks – prevented.

The SSU calls on citizens to remain vigilant and not to give in to the enemy’s provocations. Persons who have not committed a crime and voluntarily reported recruitment attempts are exempt from liability. Those who agree to carry out an enemy task can spend their entire lives behind bars.

In Kyiv region:

The SSU and the National Police apprehended an agent of the russian intelligence who was preparing to blow up a military serviceman in Bucha.

The perpetrator is a 31-year-old recidivist from Irpin, who had previously been repeatedly prosecuted for robbery.

In Lviv:

The SSU cyber units prevented a series of terrorist attacks that were to take place near local Territorial Recruitment Centers, as well as the city’s main railway station.

A 23-year-old agent from Kyiv region, who agreed to work for the enemy for money, was supposed to carry out the attacks.

After he brings the bombs to the designated locations, the russian special service was going to eliminate its asset as an ‘unnecessary witness’.

However, the SSU uncovered the aggressor’s plan at an early stage and caught the perpetrator in the act when he was planting the IED near the railway station.

In Chernihiv:

The SSU and the National Police have detained an accomplice of russian intelligence involved in the preparation of several terrorist attacks.

The individual was to manufacture explosive devices and pass them to other persons to blow up servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the National Police and other law enforcement agencies.

The agent also performed another task for russia: using bottles with flammable mixture, he set fire to the building of one of the district Administrative Services Centers.

Mobile phones with evidence of arson attacks and other crimes committed on russia’s orders were seized during searches.

In Vinnytsia:

The SSU and the National Police neutralized a group of arsonists who, on enemy orders, burned down two relay cabinets of signaling systems that regulate traffic on important sections of Ukrainian railways.

To carry out the tasks, they first established the geolocations of the railway equipment and then set it on fire using a flammable mixture.

Later, they sent photos and videos of their crimes to their russian handler.

The detainees have been notified of suspicion under the Articles of the CCU (according to actions each of them committed):

  • 111 (high treason);
  • 113 (sabotage);
  • 258 (terrorist act);
  • 263 (illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives).

The operations were conducted by the SSU Offices in Kyiv and Kyiv region, Lviv, Chernihiv and Vinnytsia regions jointly with the National Police under the procedural supervision of the regional prosecutor’s offices.
