Coordination Staff for Treatment of Prisoners of War: 144 Ukrainian defenders liberated from captivity
Another exchange of prisoners has taken place: 144 Ukrainian defenders returned home. This is the largest exchange since the beginning of russia’s full-scale invasion. Out of them, 95 are Azovstal defenders, including 43 servicemen of the Azov Regiment.
Among the liberated Ukrainian defenders, there are:
- 59 servicemen of the National Guard of Ukraine;
- 30 servicemen of Ukrainian Navy;
- 28 - of the Armed Forces of Ukraine;
- 17 - of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine;
- 9 - of Territorial Defence units;
- 1 - of the National Police of Ukraine.
Of these, 23 are officers and 69 are sergeants and non-commissioned officers. The oldest of the released turned 65, the youngest is 19 years old.
Most of the released Ukrainian defenders have serious injuries: gunshot and shrapnel wounds, explosive injuries, burns, fractures, limb amputations. They are all receiving appropriate medical aid and psychological assistance.
The Coordination Staff will keep on working to return all captured Ukrainian defenders.
