Acting Head of the Security Service Yevheniy Khmara congratulated the staff and cadets of the National Academy of the Security Service of Ukraine on the institution’s 34th anniversary and presented state and departmental awards to the teaching staff. The SSU Deputy Head, Andriy Tupikov, also attended the ceremony.

‘The SSU Academy provides its cadets with powerful applied knowledge. But for me, it is also important that it instills values: patriotism, integrity, professionalism, and brotherhood. Here, the trainers teach students to constantly develop and self-improve. And they do this by setting a personal example,’ said Major General Yevheniy Khmara.

The National Academy of the Security Service of Ukraine is one of the most prestigious Ukrainian educational institutions, which is constantly adapting its curriculum, incorporating the challenges of wartime. For example, the number of combat training classes has been increased by almost 50%.

‘The Academy’s teaching staff help shape the strategic pool not only of our Service, but of the entire state. This is a highly responsible mission. Knowledge is a force that empowers us to fight evil. It is through knowledge that we endure and prevail. The cadets’ duty is to absorb this expertise to the fullest and elevate their professional readiness. Ultimately, upon becoming officers, they will join the collective effort to counter Ukraine’s primary civilizational enemy,’ emphasised Andriy Tupikov, Deputy Head of the SSU.

Graduates of the Academy constantly replenish the Service’s personnel and serve on different lines of work: in special-purpose units, as operatives, counterintelligence officers, cybersecurity professionals, etc.

‘It is a great honour and responsibility for us to train specialists for the Security Service of Ukraine, one of the key components in the state’s defence system! I would like to thank everyone who puts their heart and soul into the development of our educational institution and the training of our youth!’ said Andriy Chernyak, Rector of the SSU Academy, summing up.

On the occasion of the Academy Day, the SSU leadership presented state and departmental awards to the staff. Among them were Honoured Education Worker of Ukraine, Honoured Figure of Science and Technology of Ukraine, certificates of merit and others.
