Further information on SSU’s special operation that foiled terrorist attack by russia’s FSB against one of the leaders of russian opposition political national movement
As part of the pre-trial investigation into a terrorist attack organised by the russian FSB, the SSU has taken urgent investigative measures to collect and secure evidence.
During a search at one of the addresses, a group of individuals launched an armed attack on the SSU’s operational-investigative team. They attempted to obstruct the investigation and blocked the law enforcement officers’ passage with their vehicles.
To stop the attack and ensure the safety of those involved in the operation, a unit of the SSU Special Operations Centre Alfa was deployed. The law enforcement officers used their weapons to stop the armed resistance.
As a result of the incident, some of those who offered resistance were injured.
The attackers have been detained.
The initial investigation has revealed that the detainees belong to one of the units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Weapons and documents have been seized from them.
The circumstances of the incident and the role of each participant are currently being investigated, as is the final legal classification of their actions.
A pre-trial investigation has been launched into the threats made and the attempt on the life of a law enforcement officer. The investigation is conducted under the procedural guidance of the Office of the Prosecutor General.
The investigation is ongoing.
