LNR militant is sentenced to eight years of imprisonment

In May of 2014, the man joined the so-called People`s militia of Donbass to cooperate with Russian militants.

Allegedly, the criminal guarded positions of the so-called LNR and collected intelligence about the positions of the Armed Forces and other Ukrainian military units in the ATO/JFO area. Militants regularly paid money to the criminal for the aforesaid illegal activity.

After a war injury, the criminal moved to Russia to acquire Russian citizenship, but instead he faced drug trafficking charges. Then, the man returned to Ukraine, where the SBU CI detained him.

During the searches, the law enforcement found and seized:

  • RGD-5 grenades and RGO hand grenades with a fuse;
  • a cache with weaponry, including RSHG-1 assault grenade of Russian origin.

In Kharkiv, a district court found the militant guilty of creation of a terrorist group or terrorist organization, as well as of unlawful handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives.

The verdict came into force.
