For different sums he “guaranteed” fast-track transferring of the goods to the EU beyond the official checkpoints. For this purpose, he provided the smugglers with the schedule and location of border patrol units.

The law enforcement officers detained the inspector in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine while receiving money for smuggling of over 4,000 packs of tobacco products.

Within the criminal proceeding under Part 3 Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine the detainee was served a notice of suspicion.

The investigation is ongoing.

The operation was conducted jointly with the Territorial Administration of the State Bureau of Investigations in Lviv and internal security officers of State Border Guard Service under the supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office.
