SBU blocks large drug-smuggling transit route from Middle East
The SBU Main Department for Fighting Corruption and Organized Crime in the framework of counteracting the illegal drugs trafficking blocked international drug-smuggling channel from the Middle East to North America through Ukraine.
At the Boryspil International Airport, while inspecting a cargo shipped from Iran to Canada, the law enforcers seized a particularly large consignment of drugs and psychotropic substances. In particular, the operatives found over 10 kilos of substances containing amphetamine and hashish, as well as around 20 kilos of heroin-containing substance. The cost of the found “goods” on the “black market” reaches almost USD 1,000,000.
The investigative actions aimed at identifying all episodes of illegal activity are under way.
The operation was conducted jointly with the Kyiv Customs of the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine and the investigators of the National Police Main Office in Kyiv.
