SBU uncovers illegal sale of firearms and ammunition in Odesa region
In the framework of countering destruction means illegal trafficking the SBU officers uncovered sale of rifled firearms and ammunition in Odesa region.
Special services operatives established that a resident of the region, a former serviceman who was serving in the ATO area, illegally stored in his dwelling small arms of domestic and foreign manufacture for sale. The offender searched clients especially among representatives of criminal circles of Odesa region.
During authorized investigative actions in the residence of the offender, the “Mauser” and the “Ekol” pistols, nearly fifty rounds of various calibre, and cold weapons were seized. According to the Security Service of Ukraine, the seized ammunition was stolen from military units in the JFO area and transmitted by accomplices to Odesa for sale.
Within the framework of criminal proceedings initiated under Part 1 Art. 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, the investigations for identifying all persons, involved in illegal business are ongoing. Examination of seized weapons and ammunition has begun.
Measures to expose an offender were conducted jointly with police investigators under the procedural guidance of the Prosecutor's Office.
