SBU registers rising activity of anti-Ukrainian Internet agitators tasked by Russian secret services
The SBU documents a rise of the illegal activities of the Russian special services using Internet-based social networks to the detriment of our country's security.
In particular, in Kyiv the SBU operatives exposed pro-Russian propagandist who, tasked by Russian supervisors, prepared and distributed anti-Ukrainian materials in the Internet. These were aimed at radicalising public actions and initiating mass riots during the events dedicated to the Day of Remembrance and Reconciliation and the Day of Victory over Nazism in the WWII.
The SBU officers established that, while administering groups in prohibited Russian social networks, the agitator distributed the ideas of “Ukrainian pseudo-statehood” and posted public calls for a forcible change of the constitutional order and violation of the territorial integrity of the country.
The actions of intruders are qualified under Art. 109 (actions aimed at forcible change or overthrow of the constitutional order or the seizure of state power), Art. 110 (encroachment on the territorial integrity and integrity of Ukraine) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Within the framework of the initiated criminal proceedings, the law enforcers found the criminal’s computer equipment and mobile devices confirming his anti-Ukrainian activity. The issue of choosing the measure of restraint to the detainee is now being decided.
Urgent investigative and operative actions are under way.
