Subversives, terrorists and their accomplices from separatist-held areas convicted on evidence collected by SBU

Based on the SBU materials, three militants, two subversives and one terrorist accomplice acting in the east of Ukraine were sentenced to different terms of imprisonment in Luhansk region.

A member of a terrorist group “Phantom”, with three previous convictions was detained by SBU operatives in Rubizhne, where he was hiding after finishing the "combat" career, and sentenced to 10 years in prison.

A resident of Golubivka (Luhansk region), who as a member of the so-called LNR Second Army Corps served duty on illegal militants’ checkpoints, was convicted and given a 5-years prison sentence. The offender was detained when attempting to commit an armed infiltration into the government controlled territories of Ukraine.

A terrorist informant was sentenced to three years and three months of imprisonment.

SBU officers established that a Pervomaisk resident, who was regularly travelling across the contact line for business purposes, collected information on positions and redeployment of Ukrainian ATO forces. He afterwards was passing the collected information on to the representatives of the so-called LNR Ministry of State Security.

Two subversives, who were planning to conduct terrorist attacks in Lysychansk, were sentenced to two years of imprisonment each with confiscation of property for committing a crime stipulated by Part 1 Article 258-3 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The court decided to sentence to two years and five months in jail a representative of the LNR Ministry of Internal Affairs, who was detained by the SBU officers in early June 2016.

These court decisions came into force in January 2018.
