UN delegation on Prevention of Torture visits SBU Interregional Office in Kramatorsk
The delegation of the UN Subcommittee on Prevention of Torture (SPT) visited the SBU Interregional Office in Kramatorsk.
The delegation members were most concerned about the compliance with the Ukrainian law and human rights while detaining people or keeping them in custody.
The chief of the SBU Office in Kramatorsk informed the foreign observers of non-existence of the pretrial detention facility in the premises of the interregional office.
During the meeting it was stressed that the officers of the SBU rely exclusively upon the provisions of law in their procedural actions regarding the arrested, suspects, witnesses, lawyers or human rights activists.
The SPT delegation members also took a look at all the premises of the SBU Office in Kramatorsk that were of their interest, and examined the documents that regulate or record the investigative activities.
Please be reminded that Kramatorsk was the fourth place inspected by the UN Subcommittee on Prevention of Torture representatives in the framework of their visit to Ukraine.
Previously the delegation members had made a visit to Lviv, Zaporizhzhia and Mariupol.
